TeluguabroadHyderabad High Court had issued strict orders to the state government to ensure the traditional Cock fights are banned during the Sankranthi season. The state confirmed in the court that they will not allow the cock fights and the bettings.
Last year, the high court had given permissions for the Cock fights in the last minute with out bettings but the court did not issue any such orders this time. Even though the court gave such orders in the past, the cock fights are allowed in the last minute as it is an issue involving people’s sentiment.
Cock Fights during Sankranthi are prevalent in Andhra side for several decades. Even people from other states also come to the area to enjoy these Cock fights and bettings. Several 100s of Crores will run on these during the festive season.
