Troy Edward Melton (born December 3, 2000) is an American professional baseball player for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball. Melton made his major league debut in 2025 after advancing through the Tigers’ minor league system and has appeared for Detroit through the 2026 season.
Early Life and Background
Troy Edward Melton attended Canyon High School in Anaheim, California, where he established himself as a prospect before moving on to collegiate baseball. He played college baseball at San Diego State University, where he compiled a 5–2 record with a 2.07 ERA and 67 strikeouts in his junior season in 2022.
Following his junior year at San Diego State University, Melton entered the 2022 Major League Baseball draft. He was selected in the fourth round by the Detroit Tigers and signed with the organization that year, beginning his professional career in Detroit’s farm system.
