Early Life and Background

Trey Lyles was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, to an American father and Canadian mother. He moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of seven, where he would develop his basketball skills and eventually become one of the top high school players in the United States. During his senior season at Arsenal Tech, Lyles averaged 23.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. University of Kentucky (2014-2015)

Lyles enrolled at the University of Kentucky on June 12, 2014. He sat out Kentucky’s six-game exhibition series in Nassau, Bahamas in August due to an unspecified leg injury. As a freshman during the 2014-2015 season, Lyles was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and played a key role in helping the Wildcats reach the 2015 NCAA Final Four.

On April 9, 2015, Lyles declared for the 2015 NBA Draft alongside several Kentucky teammates including Andrew Harrison, Aaron Harrison, Dakari Johnson, Devin Booker, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Willie Cauley-Stein. His one season at Kentucky proved to be a launching pad for his professional career.
