Faion Hicks (born September 2, 1997) is an American professional football cornerback who currently plays for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at the University of Wisconsin from 2017 to 2021. Hicks was selected by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round (232nd overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He has also spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, Seattle Seahawks, and Birmingham Stallions during his professional career.

Early Life and Background

Faion Hicks was born on September 2, 1997, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, United States. He attended Charles W. Flanagan High School in his hometown, where he played high school football. His performance on the field helped him attract attention from college programs across the country.

Hicks was ranked as a three-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals.com coming out of high school. He received 10 scholarship offers from various college programs, including Appalachian State, Iowa State, and Wisconsin. After considering his options, Hicks committed to play at the University of Wisconsin in late 2016 and began his college football career with the Badgers in 2017.

College Career

At Wisconsin, Hicks played as a cornerback for the Badgers from 2017 through 2021. During his five seasons with the program, he developed his skills against some of the top competition in college football, particularly within the Big Ten Conference. His time at Wisconsin helped prepare him for the next level of his football career.

Denver Broncos (2022)

Hicks entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick, selected 232nd overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2022 NFL Draft. His selection marked the culmination of his journey from high school prospect to NFL draftee. After being selected, he joined the Broncos’ roster for his rookie season.

During his rookie year, Hicks was waived during final roster cuts in August 2022. He was signed to the team’s practice squad shortly after. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Broncos on January 9, 2023. Hicks was waived again by the Broncos on August 29, 2023.

New Orleans Saints (2023)

Following his departure from Denver, Hicks joined the New Orleans Saints organization. He was signed to the Saints’ practice squad on September 13, 2023. He spent the remainder of the 2023 regular season with New Orleans, continuing to develop his craft on their practice squad.

After the 2023 regular season concluded, the Saints signed Hicks to a reserve/future contract on January 8, 2024. This indicated the team’s continued interest in his development. However, he was waived by the Saints on June 17, 2024.

Cleveland Browns (2024)

In August 2024, Hicks signed with the Cleveland Browns on August 4, 2024. He competed for a spot on the team’s roster during training camp and the preseason. Unfortunately for Hicks, he was waived by the Browns on August 26, 2024.

Seattle Seahawks (2024)
