Miles Bokeem Melton was born on May 18, 1999, in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. He attended Cedar Creek High School in Egg Harbor City. During his senior season, Melton recorded 51 receptions for 766 yards and nine touchdowns through the air, while also rushing for 451 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. His dual-threat ability made him a highly regarded high school prospect.

Path to College Football

Melton was rated as a four-star recruit and received over 30 scholarship offers from major college football programs, including Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Maryland, and Pitt. He ultimately decided to commit to Rutgers University, following in the footsteps of his father, Gary Melton, who had played football at Rutgers.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2017–2021)

Melton played college football at Rutgers University from 2017 through 2021. He appeared in 11 games during his freshman season and recorded four receptions for 83 yards. As a sophomore, he participated in all 12 of Rutgers’ games and caught 28 passes for 245 yards. His junior year saw him lead the Scarlet Knights with 30 receptions for 427 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions.

During the 2020 season, Melton again led Rutgers with 47 catches for 638 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions, while also scoring rushing touchdowns and a punt return touchdown. He returned for a fifth season, which was permitted due to the extra year of eligibility granted during the coronavirus pandemic. Melton set a career high with 55 receptions for 618 yards and three touchdowns in his final collegiate season. He concluded his college career by playing in the 2022 Senior Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks (2022)

Melton was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round, 229th overall, during the 2022 NFL Draft. He was waived on August 30, 2022, and signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad the following day.

Green Bay Packers (2022–Present)

On December 27, 2022, Melton was signed to the active roster of the Green Bay Packers. He was released on August 29, 2023, after final roster cuts and was signed to the Packers’ practice squad the next day. He was elevated to the active roster multiple times during the 2023 season and signed back to the active roster on December 31.
