CRPF jawan being kicked, humiliated by mob in Kashmir

A soldier of CRPF, was coming back from his duty after the Srinagar Lok Sabha bye-election, being beaten and humiliated by a mob involving of youths. The jawan, who is yet to be officially recognized, was armed but disciplined restraint while dealing with the criminals.
As seen in the video, the jawan was hit on his helmet, beaten at his shin and constantly humiliated by a mob of hooligans who were also recording the incident. The mob continued to heckle the jawan, till he walked out of the street.
The jawan, was escorting the polling party taking the electronic voting machines from polling booths to the storage locations, along with his comrades assigned by State Election Commission, NDTV announced. According to India Today, the criminals were part of the stone pelters who prevented people from reaching the polling booth on the day of the election.
The video flashed an outrage on social media, with people demanding action against the mob including of Kashmiri youths. A probe is expected to be carried out to nab the criminals.
“CRPF jawans were accused of firing with pellet guns against innocents. This video puts those doubts at rest. This shows the level of restraint among our security forces,” CRPF spokesperson Bhavnesh Kumar Chowdhary said, while speaking to NDTV, further adding that the patience shown by the jawan upholds the principles of Indian democracy.
Union Minister Hansraj Ahir also praised the action of the jawan, saying that he should be respected for handling the utmost amount of control.
The bye-election in Srinagar was held on April 9. The polling was damaged with more than 200 instances of violence, which also led to the death of 8 people in retaliatory action by security forces. The voting percentage was 7.14, lowest ever in the past 30 years.
