Chevireddy arrested for 2-year-old Samaikyandhra protest

YSRCP Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy has been arrested on Monday morning in connection with a case during the Samaikyandhra agitation. He was arrested and was taken to Nellore Court, where he was produced.

The court sent him in remand till January 29 and he has since been shifted to Nellore Jail. This arrest with a case, which is over two years old, comes after the arrest of party MP Mithun Reddy on Saturday and Narsaraopet MLA G Srinivas Reddy on Monday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Chevireddy said that the Chandrababu Government was behaving in a conspiratorial manner and has gone back on its word of lifting the cases pertaining to the Samaikyandhra agitation. He said YSRCP MLAs and leaders were being arrested in a systematic manner.

Following the arrest of Chevireddy, the situation turned tense as a large number of YSRCP workers spilled onto the roads to protest against the police action.
