TeluguabroadArvind Kejriwal gets Z-category security cover
Delhi Police will provide Z-category security cover, with around 25-30 armed personnel to CM-designate Arvind Kejriwal, sources in the security wing said. The apparatus will also comprise an escort vehicle.
However, till the time he shifts to Delhi, the Delhi Police will also seek security cover from the UP Police as Kejriwal lives in Kaushambi in Ghaziabad.
As per the protocol, Delhi chief minister enjoys Z-category cover, but the number of personnel of the category may change as per the assessed threat perception. Kejriwal currently has around 12 security personnel.
Last year, there was a huge fracas over Kejriwal’s security after he refused to accept any cover. In fact, when the Delhi Police had initially approached him offering PSOs, Kejriwal wrote back saying that he did not need personal security and that “God would protect him”. Delhi Police then had to provide him cover without his knowledge.
