Michael Matheson Bio
Michael Matheson (born February 27, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman and alternate captain for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League. Drafted in the first round, 23rd overall, by the Florida Panthers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Matheson has played in the NHL since 2015 and has represented Canada at senior international tournaments.
Early Life and Background
Michael Matheson was born in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, and raised on Montreal’s West Island by his parents, Rod and Marg. He learned to skate by age two and began organized skating and minor hockey in the West Island community, first playing ringette with his sister due to age restrictions for young boys.
