Thomas Jack Henry (born July 29, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. Henry played for the Michigan Wolverines from 2017 to 2019. His junior season in 2019 became the defining moment of his college career. Despite being hospitalized with the flu before the game, Henry was the winning pitcher against UCLA in the deciding game on June 9.
At the College World Series, Henry delivered memorable performances. On June 17, he pitched a three-hit complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts against Florida State. Michigan coach Erik Bakich said of Henry’s performance: “He was the entire storyline. We needed a strong performance, and he gave us something magical.” On June 24, in the first game of the College World Series finals against Vanderbilt, Henry earned the win and recorded eight strikeouts. Professional Career (2019–Present)
Henry was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 74th overall pick in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed with the organization and made three appearances for the Hillsboro Hops in 2019, going 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA over 3 innings pitched. The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, preventing Henry from playing that year.
Henry returned to action in 2021 with the Double-A Amarillo Sod Poodles. He posted a 4-6 record with a 5.21 ERA and 135 strikeouts across 23 starts. He began the 2022 season with Triple-A Reno Aces before receiving his first major league call-up.
