New York Mets Breakthrough (2017–2024)
Nido began 2017 with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at Double-A and was selected to appear in the All-Star Futures Game that season. The Mets promoted him to the major leagues on September 12, 2017, and he made his MLB debut on September 13 at Wrigley Field, recording his first major league hit the following day off Félix Peña.

Nido developed a reputation for strong defensive work behind the plate and, in 2022, was named one of three finalists for the National League Gold Glove Award for catchers. Offensively he posted varying batting lines across seasons and tied for the major league lead in sacrifice hits in 2022 with 12.
Across his tenure with the Mets, Nido experienced interruptions from injury and illness, including an early end to his 2020 season after a positive COVID-19 test and related complications. He remained with the Mets organization until mid-2024, with multiple roster moves across seasons.

The Tigers designated him for assignment on May 20, 2025; he cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on May 23 and later elected free agency after the season before re-signing a new minor league contract with the organization on October 30, 2025.
